Peugeot e-208 Allure Premium+

The Peugeot 208 has been reinvented and now offers the choice of diesel, petrol, or all-electric powertrains. The Peugeot e-208 is one of a new breed of smaller, more affordable electric cars that look set to take an increasing slice of the EV market as we approach the 2035 deadline for the end of sales of pure petrol and diesel-engine cars.

The e-208 Allure Premium+ has a sculpted bonnet, three-claw LED light designs, and prominent rear piano black trim giving it a distinctive look. You can tell it apart from the regular 208 by its ‘e’ prefix and special Peugeot badge that changes colour in different lights.

Interior

Inside the E-208, the Allure Premium+ features a seven-inch touchscreen that is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The screen also comes with built-in satnav and a reversing camera. The cockpit displays a 3D effect for the dials, giving it a modern look. The dashboard layout is the same as the previous 208, which is efficient and easy to navigate.

The 3D effect in the cockpit displays information on three different layers, creating a visually appealing and unique experience that sets it apart from other cars. The display is also visible from the passenger’s seat, making it ideal for driving instructors.

Practicality and visibility

For everyday use, the Peugeot e-208 is a practical choice for those looking to switch to a fully electric car. It is slightly larger than the Vauxhall Corsa-e, which offers more space for both the driver and passenger in the front. The front of the e-208 is spacious enough to accommodate two adults, and the front seats and steering wheel can be adjusted to suit your needs. There is also a small nook between the two front seats for personal items, as well as an armrest that has storage inside.

The rear seats can fit three teenagers, although taller adults might find it a bit of a squeeze due to minimal head and legroom. The rear also features two USB sockets, just like the front, and the door bins and front seat pockets offer ample storage space.

The e-208 offers excellent visibility through the front windows with decent-sized wing mirrors, although visibility over the shoulder is slightly reduced due to the tapering roof and pillars. However, rear parking sensors compensate for the restricted view.

The Peugeot e-208 Allure Premium+ is a great choice for those looking for a practical, affordable, and stylish electric car. With its unique design features, 3D cockpit display, and ample storage space, it’s a great option for everyday use.

Performance and comfort

This vehicle is designed with city driving in mind, allowing drivers to easily manoeuvre through traffic and take advantage of gaps in the flow.

The e-208 is powered by an agile and responsive electric motor that gives the car a nippy performance, making it easy to navigate through tight spaces. Its reactive braking system means that the driver does not have to touch the pedals much, which is a good thing. However, the brakes can feel a bit squishy at first, which is normal and can take some time to get used to. The car is also equipped with active safety braking, which will activate at urban speeds if the driver fails to brake. This feature can be manually turned off.

The e-208’s cabin is quiet even at motorway speeds, making for a comfortable ride. The car has enough power to overtake slower traffic while cruising at 70mph. The large front pillars do not pose a problem for the driver as the car is fitted with cruise control and lane keep assist, making long journeys more enjoyable.

On twisty roads, the e-208 steers and turns efficiently making the journey more comfortable.

Engine

The electric engine has a quick charging time of 450 minutes, ensuring that the car is always ready for action.

Boot

The e-208 offers the same boot space as a regular 208, with 311 litres of space and around 1,106 litres with the rear seats down. This generous boot space makes the car practical for everyday use.

Overall, the Peugeot e-208 is a well-designed and efficient electric car that is perfect for city driving. Its impressive performance and comfort features make it a standout choice among electric cars in its class.
