Volkswagen Launches Its Latest Model, The Taigo: A Spacious and Comfortable SUV

The Taigo is slightly larger than the T-Cross, and its design reflects Volkswagen’s commitment to providing a driver-friendly and practical vehicle.

Interior

One of the standout features of the Taigo is its interior layout, which is designed to be both sensible and easy to use. The driver’s seat comes with multiple adjustments, and the steering wheel is also adjustable, making it easy for drivers to find a comfortable driving position.

All trims of the Tiago are fitted with a touchscreen, with the Life trim fitted with an 8.0-inch and the higher two trims fitted with a 10.25-inch-high resolution touchscreen which also come with a built in sat nav. The climate control panel is located separately under the touchscreen and is controlled by either rotary controllers in the Life model or touch-sensitive panels with a sliding touchbar depending on the spec.

Driver convenience

  • Ambient lighting with logo projection
  • Front footwell illumination
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Front Assist - Autonomous Emergency Braking

Practicality and comfort

The Taigo offers plenty of headroom and seats that slide a pleasing way back to supply spacious legroom, not leaving people who are six foot plus struggling to get comfy due to lack of space. The width of this vehicle is also quite impressive, as drivers and passengers won’t find themselves cuddling up together. The speedometer is also visible from the passenger’s seat and the driver’s seat, perfect for driving instructors.

The roof of the vehicle slopes down towards the back of the car leaving the roofline in the backseats slightly lower than the front seats. However, the headspace is still ample. Legroom is quite generous in the back too, with sufficient knee room and a good amount of space under the front seats for passengers feat. The middle passenger seat is slightly raised making the middle passenger struggle for headroom if they are six foot plus, although in the back seats, you could comfortably fit two six-foot adults and a teenager in the middle.

There’s ample storage space throughout too, the Taigo has a decent-sized glove box, door bins that can hold a large bottle of water, a deep cubby in the central armrest, and a space for phones in front of the gear stick with 2 USB points as well.

Performance and visibility

Under the hood, the Taigo offers a choice of petrol engine models with a consumption of around 47.9 – 52.3 mpg. Its compact size and good visibility make it ideal for city driving, while its firm suspension ensures a smooth ride even on bumpy back roads. On the motorway, the Taigo is a polished car, with adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, and a driver fatigue alert system all coming standard.

The Taigo’s design also ensures excellent visibility for drivers, thanks to slim front windscreen pillars and large rear-side windows. LED headlights are standard across all trims, while the Style and R-line trims upgrade to Matrix headlights that allow drivers to keep full beam on without blinding other drivers.

Thanks to the raised seating position and slim front windscreen pillars, the visibility out of the front is excellent. The large rear side windows help maximize the over-the-shoulder view, giving the driver a good all-rounder view.

The small rear window can make it tricky to gauge the distance of obstacles during parking, but the built-in standard parking sensors and park assist will help the driver avoid any parking scrapes.
Bring LED headlights are standard across the range and both the style and R-line trim upgrade the LED headlights to Matrix headlights that allow the driver to keep full beam on without blinding other drivers.

In summary, the Volkswagen Taigo is an impressive compact SUV that offers a comfortable ride, spacious interior, and practical features. Its design caters to both drivers and passengers, making it an excellent choice for families or anyone looking for a reliable and practical vehicle.
